What Is This? / Why Am I Reading It?
As a species, our creativity is one of the most downright magical things we've got going for us. Time and time again it saves us, elevates, ennobles us. And it's particularly excellent when we get to do it with others. With Make Machine, we want to encourage more of it. Simple as that.
You've been invited to check out this site early—which is a secret (please don't share yet)—because you're a person who knows firsthand (and perhaps famously) how fruitful the collaborative process can be.
What Make Machine Does (Click the Gears for More Info):
Community
The most basic thing: Make Machine will allow a place for people to discuss the creative process, host portfolios, give updates about works in progress, etc. Nothing special there—lots of networks provide that—but hold on; we haven’t started yet.
Finding the Crew
Users can post their project descriptions and what kind of skills they’re looking for, and other users can browse those listings. If they’re interested, they can flag themselves as ready to roll, and the project leader can assemble a team of collaborators—all for the purpose of creating cool things.
The Workshop
Once the project leader picks the team, Make Machine provides a workshop for collaboration—file storage, a whiteboard, text/video chat, and a variety of other tools to facilitate the collaboration process.
Showcasing
Completed collaborations can be made publicly available to the community to check out. Creators can earn badges, vote on their favorites, enter monthly contests, and more.
